Definition

The revenue KPI refers to all money earned from regular business activities and can be recurring and/or one-time (depending on business model).

Characteristics

– Top line figure on a P&L
– Includes all money earned from regular business activities
– Can be recurring and/or one-time (depending on business    model)

Example

A lemonade stand sells 1000 glasses of lemonade in a month for 5 € each. The revenue for this month is 5000 €. 

Negations / Exclusions

– Extraordinary revenues (like sale of an asset)
– Received interest (except if part of business model)
– Costs are not deducted
